Afternoon Branch Line Local

Afternoon that last Sunday of July 1992 was hot and humid.

The railway's afternoon branch line local was just squealing to a halt at the station. Milk cans were patiently waiting for loading into the head end of the combine and a few people were anticipating a ride on the train or the arrival of a friend or relative. Remeber when...well almost.

In July 1992, number 20, former Roberval & Saguenay RS-2, was busily engaged in passenger service duties at the Canadian Railway Museum in Delson, Quebec. The southbound local had just cleared the diamond and was about to detrain another group of guests.

Barrington, a former station on Canadian National Railways Valleyfield Subdivision was moved from Barrington, Quebec, to the Canadian Railway Museum for safe keeping. In this instant I am reluctant to use the word preserve.

John Godfrey was at the throttle that afternoon and he kindly invited David and me up into the cab for the short ride to the end of the line and back. Thank you again, John.

Out in the the wilds of the Canadian Railway Museum. Former Montreal streetcar numbered 1959 was providing the connecting service between Hays and Barrington that warm afternoon.
